If you’ve been to Tokyo within the last few years you’ll no doubt be familiar with this series of advertisements that Tokyo Metro have been running. Each month a new one comes along. The adverts are quite striking and pretty unique and are written in both Japanese and English. Though the English is a little unusual and quite dull (as is often the case with English in Japan). I found some of the pictures illustrations to be quite comical until I understood what was going on in the picture. I couldn’t resist making a few alternative versions.
I recommend you take a look at the real adverts instead of my modified ones as you might find some of them give a surprising glimpse into Japanese train culture. For instance did you know it’s considered rude for a woman to put makeup on whilst on the train or for someone to make a phone call whilst riding a train?
How strict is public transport etiquette where you live? Do you have similar rules?

puting makeup on is rude?
oh my well then i’d never be on time. the only way for me to be on time (’cause im a horrible morning person) is to do my make-up on the subway and eat on the subway xD
Yes it’s considered rude though I have seen women doing it on the trains. I guess if you’re going to do it then you have to try and be discreet about it ^^
of all the rules the not talking on the phone while on the train will be the hardest to not break if/when I get to Japan
Actually it can be pretty easy not to break as you’ll often find when to go to Japan your phones doesn’t work and if it does it will cost so much you wont want to use it!
we don’t really have any restrictions like that at all were I live O:
